After 100m dash win, PH’s Cray sets SEA Games record in 400m hurdles
SINGAPORE—Track ace Eric Cray made it a double-gold performance for the Philippines after winning the men’s 400m hurdles in record-breaking fashion in the track and field competitions of the 28th Southeast Asian Games at 55,000-seat National Stadium here.
Cray, a 26-year-old Filipino-American from San Antonio, Texas, clocked 49.40 seconds to retain the title in his pet event and set a new Games record that erased the 20-year-old mark of Thailand’s Chanon Keanchan (49.76).
It was the second gold for Cray after winning the 100m dash Thursday, the first time the country won the centerpiece event in the biennial meet. CFC
