Patrombon, Lehnert make it to SEA Games tennis semis
SINGAPORE—Jeson Patrombon and Katharina Lehnert fashioned out impressive victories to barge into the semifinals of their respective events Thursday in the Southeast Asian Games tennis competitions at Kallang Tennis Centre here.
Patrombon, 22, stunned top seed Christopher Rungkat of Indonesia, 6-2, 7-6 (7-2) to reach the semifinals of the men’s singles, where he battles Thai Warit Sornbutnark, who advanced via a 6-2, 6-2 triumph over Kim Delton of Cambodia.
Lehnert advanced after ousting Philavong Phonephatep of Laos, 6-1, 6-0.
Article continues after this advertisementShe will vie for a final slot against top seed Varatchaya Wongteanchai of Thailand, who cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 rout of Vietnam’s Dao Ming Tranh.
The men’s doubles team of Treat Huey and Francis Casey Alcantara eliminated Rungkat and Trijati Suno Wahyu of Indonesia, 4-6, 6-3, 10-5, while the women’s duo of Lehnert and Denise Dy ousted Singapore’s Stefanie Tan Li Yun and Wee Khee Yen, 6-4, 7-5.
Both teams advanced to the semifinals.
