Though the country was all smiles with the Azkals’ 2-1 victory over Bahrain on Thursday, bad news dawned on the team as midfielder Stephan Schrock was ruled out by coach Thomas Dooley for the country’s next assignment against Yemen.

The returning Fil-German midfielder started the match but had to be replaced by Misagh Bahadoran at the 23rd minute after seemingly hurting his knee.

Bahadoran, though, stepped up big as he scored the opening goal at the 50th minute for the Philippines after a cross from Phil Younghusband.

Dooley is afraid that Schrock could have hurt a ligament as the team doctors have already scheduled an MRI on Friday.

“He could be out for at least two weeks,” said the American coach.

The team has left for Doha, Qatar on Friday as the Azkals continue their World Cup qualifying journey against Yemen on Tuesday.
