GlobalPort wallops NLEX by 28
GlobalPort got back to its winning ways on Friday, dealing NLEX a 28-point beatdown, 108-80, to snap its two-game losing streak in the 2015 PBA Governors’ Cup at Smart-Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
It was an all-out domination for the Batang Pier which erected an 18-point lead in the first half, 34-16, and never looked back to reach its franchise’s highest winning margin, capping it off with a 38-point fourth quarter barrage.
Article continues after this advertisement“We caught them off-guard because they were coming off of a hard game against Rain or Shine while we were well-rested,” said coach Pido Jarencio. “We were more aggressive. I challenged our players to improve on our defense and limit them to 80 points and below. It’s a positive sign because the players responded.”
The outspoken mentor continued, “It was a total team effort and I’m happy that I finally got five wins in the PBA. We have a big chance to make it to the playoffs.”
Jarrid Famous captained the balanced attack from the Batang Pier with his huge 30-point, 24-rebound outing, on top of his four assists, two steals and three blocks.
Article continues after this advertisementTerrence Romeo, meanwhile, had 22 markers to his name, as Omar Krayem dialed it up from downtown, hitting three treys to finish with 19.
GlobalPort improved to 5-4, putting them in solo fifth place, while NLEX continued its three-game losing skid and is now at 2-7.
Asi Taulava led the Road Warriors with 23 points and six rebounds, as imports Kwame Alexander and Michel Madanly only had 14 and 12 markers, respectively.
