Xavier alumni pulls San Ching Cup ‘three-peat’

JERON Teng fired 30 points as Xavier School routed Chiang Kai Shek College, 105-80, to rule the Under-22 Inter-Alumni basketball tournament of the 18th Chiang San Ching Memorial Cup for the third straight time at SGS Stadium in Quezon City.

Teng, the 6-foot-3 La Salle stalwart who once scored 104 points for Xavier in a tournament, also had eight assists, five rebounds and two steals.

Angelo Wongchuking added 13 points, including three triples that helped the Stallions pull away.

Jarell Lim tallied 18 points, six assists and five rebounds to emerge Finals MVP for the team managed by Benedict Chua and Caesar Wongchuking.

Led by Kenneth Villapando, Manila Patriotic School secured third place after downing St. Jude Catholic School.

Xavier’s Timothy Cu won tournament MVP honors after averaging 14.2 points and 13.5 rebounds. He led the Mythical Five that also included teammate Philex Yao, Villapando, CKSC’s Van Pilanga and St. Jude’s Joel Chang.
