THE FDG Cup Badminton Championships holds its 12th edition next month with the country’s leading players and rising stars competing at Powersmash in Makati and Robinsons Place Manila.
The two-weekend event slated July 3 and 4 and July 11 and 12 is a ranking tournament to be spiced up by two world class players raring to showcase their talent and skills before local badminton fans.
The annual event, held in honor of Robinsons Land Corp. president Frederick D. Go, and sanctioned by the Philippine Badminton Association, features the Open division, which is expected to draw Filipino bets in the ongoing Southeast Asian Games plus foreign entries in the ladies and men’s singles.
Also on tap are the men’s and women’s doubles and the mixed doubles with the field to be limited to 312 players. Official shuttlecocks will be provided by Babolat Philippines.
Deadline for registration is on June 26 with the draw set on July 2 at 3 p.m. at Holiday Inn Hotel in Pasig City.
The event will also include the Invitational division featuring employees and business partners of RLC.
The first three playdates will be held at Powersmash with the quarterfinals, semifinals and finals set at Robinsons Place Manila.
