Grandmaster of Memory Erwin Balines ruled the 2nd Avesco-Philippine International Open Memory Championship held recently at Far Eastern U in Manila even as 13-year-old Jamyla Lambunao stole the limelight after breaking five national juniors records.
Balines netted an aggregate of 5,556 points in the 10 events to bag the overall championship title.
Lambunao, who earned her International Master of Memory title last year, placed second (4,597), swept all 10 gold medals in the juniors division and set new marks in the 30-Minute Binary Numbers, Speed Numbers, 30-Minute Playing Cards, 30-Minute Numbers and 15-Minute Names and Faces.
