ANTONIO Lascuña, the reigning three-time Order of Merit champion on the ICTSI Tour, resumes his quest for a first victory in the year when he banners the P1.5-million Riviera Classic that tees off tomorrow at the wind-swept Langer layout in Silang, Cavite.
The 47-year-old Lascuña, coming off a joint 20th-place finish on the Asian Tour’s Queen’s Cup last week, will be coming into the event as one of the solid picks together with Miguel Tabuena.
Tabuena finished better than Lascuña at 16th in Thailand and will be looking to win for the second time this season after topping the Splendido leg in Tagaytay last March.
Frankie Miñoza is another notable bet, with the former Champion’s Tour campaigner in the United States enjoying fine form.
Jay Bayron, Mars Pucay, Marvin Dumandan and Ferdie Aunzo, all previous leg winners, are also seeing action together with the steady Elmer Salvador, the 2009 Philippine Open champion at Malarayat.
Charles Hong, who ruled the last leg held at Luisita last month, will miss the tournament to honor a previous commitment with the Asian Development Tour. Musong R. Castillo
