Japeth Aguilar made the game-winning 3-pointer and Barangay Ginebra San Miguel escaped NLEX, 110-107, to nail the last quarterfinals spot in the 2015 PBA Governors’ Cup Wednesday night at Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Aguilar buried the go-ahead triple with 1.7 seconds left that propelled the Kings to the quarterfinals.
Ginebra, though, will have to beat No.1 Alaska to advance in the semifinals. The Aces lost only three times in the elimination round.
NLEX center Asi Taulava tied the game at 107 with 15.8 ticks remaining before Aguilar played hero for Ginebra.
The Kings’ win also booted the Kia Carnival out of playoff contention.
LA Tenorio and Orlando Johnson scored 21 points each for Ginebra while Michael Madanly had 36 points for the also-ran Road Warriors.
