Riding high on a golden performance in the Southeast Asian Games, the Philippine Blu Boys hope to make their mark when they plunge into action in the 2015 WBSC Men’s Softball World Championship which starts Saturday in Saskatoon, Canada.
The Blu Boys punched their ticket to the prestigious 16-team tournament after a runner-up finish in the Asian Men’s Softball Championships last year.
“Having qualified for the tournament is a victory in itself but we’re not resting on our laurels,” said Amateur Softball Association of the Philippines president Jean Henri Lhuillier.
Continue improving
“Our RP Blu Boys want to continue improving and measure themselves against softball’s strongest teams. I’m positive that we have what it takes to be at par with the world’s best. We’re gearing up for a strong top 10 finish.”
Pool A
The Blu Boys landed in Pool A, where they will face Argentina, the Czech Republic, Great Britain, Guatemala, Indonesia, and host Canada.
Also seeing action in the tournament are Australia, Denmark, Dominican Republic, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, United States and Venezuela.
“Our team’s confidence is at an all-time high,” said RP Blu Boys coach Isaac Bacarisas whose team faces the Czech Republic in its opening game on Sunday.
