Javier Patino just cant stop scoring.
Fresh off back-to-back superb performances for the national team in World Cup Qualifying, the Azkals striker fired his second goal in as many matches for Henan Jianye in the Chinese Super League Wednesday night.
The Fil-Spanish star scored with a fine header in the 70th minute after a goalmouth scramble to give Henan a 1-0 lead. Henan hung on to secure a 2-1 victory and moved to fifth spot in the CSL with 22 points from 15 matches.
It was Patino’s seventh goal of the season for Henan, which signed the Azkals star from Thai club Buriram United at the start of the season.
Patino has actually accounted for a third of Henan’s goal tally this season.
The match against Guangzhou was Patino’s fourth since June 11, counting his two games with the Azkals. He scored the Azkals’ second goal in the 2-1 win over Bahrain before setting up the goals of Iain Ramsay and Misagh Bahadoran in the 2-0 drubbing of Yemen in Doha last June 16.
The Azkals are tied with North Korea at the top of Group H with six points.
