LAST year’s co-champions Wack Wack and Valley split their first-round matches in the reformatted Men’s Federation Golf League held over the weekend.
In Group 1, Wack Wack posted a 3.5-2.5 decision at home against Alabang but suffered a 1.5-4.5 loss in the road match of the season’s opening matches.
Valley was impressive in a 3.5-2.5 victory over Orchard to open its 2015 campaign only to suffer the same loss in the away game of their Group 2 meeting.
Eight teams are vying for honors this year with the other two matches pitting Eagle Ridge versus Forest Hills and Mimosa opposite Riviera ending in similar ties.
Former champion Forest Hills pulled off the first round’s most impressive win, a 5.5-0.5 result at home that made up for its 1.5-4.5 defeat at the hands of Eagle Ridge.
Mimosa served notice of its serious bid with a 3.5-2.5 triumph over Riviera but quickly lost its sting in its visit at the latter’s Silang, Cavite course where it took a 1-5 loss.
For the second round pairings, Forest Hills battles Wack Wack while Eagle Ridge meets Alabang in Group 1.
Valley plays Riviera and Mimosa goes up against Orchard in Group 2.
