Pachanga stuns Global with draw

Pachanga dealt Global’s title hopes a massive blow by holding the reigning champion to a 1-1 stalemate Monday night even as Stallion rose to second spot in the United Football League at Rizal Memorial Stadium.

Facing a team that has won only twice this season, Global looked a shadow of the team that won the league last season, needing a late strike from Jason de Jong to rescue a point.

Not even the return of Misagh Bahadoran, who came in at halftime could spark Global, which struggled to carve out scoring chances.

Stallion leaned on two early strikes from Nathan Alquiros and cruised to a 4-0 win over Team Socceroo, moving within six points off leader Ceres-La Salle.

Jordan Mintah and Ruben Doctora were also on target for Stallion which only has five matches left in its schedule. Ceres is on top with 30 points, but still has six matches left.

The draw dropped Global to third with 23 points from 11 matches.

Jinggoy Valmayor gave Pachanga the lead in the 10th minute, beating Patrick Deyto inside the box.
