MANILA, Philippines—Sacha Feliciano stole the spotlight anew, nailing the hotly contested Formula SL Novice division in the Petron Karting Series recently at the Clark international Speedway.
Despite qualifying on the second row and finishing fourth in one of the heats, the 17-year-old Beacon Academy student still turned back the challenge of Tonyo Carcel, Joseph Marwin Rojo, Basti Escalante and Jaz Monzones.
Feliciano now leads the standings by 20 points and, with only one race left on the calendar, is now the favorite to take home the title.
“I’m not even thinking about that right now,” Feliciano cheerfully said after the race.
Feliciano’s victory nearly stole the thunder from One Racing’s trophy rampage anchored on Daniel Castaneda and new recruit Philip Rido.
Castaneda and Rido spearheaded the team’s haul of two champion trophies, and five other podium finishes.
It was the first time that One Racing dominated the SQ Kart grid, claiming five of the top six spots.
“We’re quite impressed with the team’s performance in this race,” said One Racing team maner Chito Benito. “The boys really gave their all to boost their title chances.”
Feliciano, meanwhile, is now looking forward to the final leg which will be held at the Carmona Race Track in Cavite on October 23.
