NCAA Season 91: Arellano escapes Lyceum
It took a mammoth performance from Jiovani Jalalon to save Arellano on Friday as the Chiefs bagged their first win in NCAA Season 91 men’s basketball tourney, stopping Lyceum, 80-78, at the Arena in San Juan.
Jalalon, a Gilas cadet who saw his basketball career took off after a memorable Season 90, led Arellano with 20 points, 12 assists, six rebounds, and four steals to steer his team to the victory.

“That’s Jiovanni for you,” said coach Jerry Codiñera. He had that injury and it’s difficult playing with that injury. But now he knows how it feels. He was able to recover and he was able to lead this team.”
Zach Nichols nailed five treys to finish with 16 markers, while rookie Michael Salado chimed in 10 points, seven boards, and six dimes.
Joseph Gabayni broke off of his first game funk and finished with 20 points and 18 rebounds, while Shaq Alanes also had 20 as the Pirates fell to their second straight defeat. IDL
