Luzon PNG: Ilustre shines anew
NATIONAL pool members stormed the track and field competitions as rains failed to stop action in the Philippine Olympic Committee-Philippine Sports Commission (POC-PSC) National Games Luzon qualifying leg at Philsports Arena yesterday.
At the Rizal Memorial Swimming Center, golden boy Maurice Sacho Ilustre bagged two more golds after ruling the boys 200-meter freestyle and the 1,500m freestyle. He now has five golds in his collection after taking three mints last Friday.
Sixteen-year-old Karen Janario of University of Santo Tomas ruled the girls 100-meter hurdles in 15.28 seconds, stamping her class over the competition and proving her worth once again.
Article continues after this advertisementThe former scholar at Leyte Sports Academy and one of the survivors of Supertyphoon “Yolanda” is a many-time gold winner in various local meets including the Palarong Pambansa.
Also shining through the gloomy weather was Jenny Rose Rosales, who dominated the women’s 400m run with a time of 58.98 seconds.
Making it a triple threat for the PH pool members was comely Maureen Schrivers of La Salle who topped the women’s high jump with a leap of 1.63 meters. She bested Regina Satoy of Rizal Technological University (1.45m) and Cristel Pascual of Polytechnic University of the Philippines (1.45m).
