Alberto Lim Jr., crashed into the main draw of the Wimbledon boys singles Saturday following twin victories in the qualifying round.
Lim was to take on local boy Jonathan Gray at Court No. 14 late Sunday in the opening round.
“This is the happiest day of my life,” said Lim who won two tournaments in India earlier this year.
The fast-rising Filipino junior netter turned back Nicolas Moreno de Alboran of Spain, 6-4, 6-7 (7-5), 6-1, in the first round of the qualifying.
Then the 16-year-old world No. 45th booked a ticket to the main draw, his first Grand Slam stint in his young career, with a 1-6, 7-6 (7-3), 13-11 triumph over Japanese Yuya Ito. CFC
