PH’s Lim nips hometown bet to advance in Wimbledon boys singles

There’s no stopping rising Filipino teen star Alberto Lim Jr. from making his presence felt in just his first-ever Grand Slam stint.

The 16-year-old Lim moved on to the next round in Wimbledon boys singles after turning back hometown bet Jonathan Gray, 7-6 (7-4), 7-6 (13-11), Tuesday (Manila time).

Lim, ranked 45th in the world, made his way to the main draw of tennis’ grandest stage after defeating Nicolas Moreno de Alboran of Spain in the opening round of the qualifying before fending off Yuya Ito of Japan.
