ABOUT 3,000 runners answered the starting gun in the recent Energizer Night Race at Filinvest City in Alabang with the participants urged to run as far as they could within the two-hour time limit.

Energizer donated P100—from the registration fee—for every three kilometers that a runner completed.

The loop run collected about P1 million for the benefit of Bantay Bata 163.

The runners’ time was monitored through the radio frequency identification chip, which tracked every 3K loop a runner made. Likewise, a battery meter lit up every time a runner finished 3K.

Vincent Lizo, Energizer Philippines’ business director, said the loop run—a first in the country—pushed the runners to beat their personal records with the added benefit of helping the children of Bantay Bata 163.

“Ever since the Energizer Night Race took form, we saw it as more than being just a simple fun run,” Lizo said. “We used this platform to practice an Energizer mantra, which is to share ‘positivenergy.’”

“What we need are partners who will be committed to help our children on a longer term,” Ocampo said.

The night race proved “there’s no boundary to helping change people’s lives,” said MJ Tiquia, Energizer brand activation manager.
