STALLION and Kaya try to close in on leader Ceres-La Salle today when they clash with separate rivals in the United Football League at Rizal Memorial Stadium.

With Ceres comfortably perched at the top with 30 points, the onus is on Stallion and Kaya to prevent the Bacolod side from running away with the title.

Stallion, ranked second with 24 points, collides with struggling Loyola Meralco in the 7:45 p.m. kickoff.

Kaya which is in fourth spot with 22 points is a heavy favorite against Pachanga Diliman in their 5:15 p.m. duel.

FEATURED STORIES

Ceres only needs 13 points from its last six games to clinch the crown and an AFC Cup berth—which means the Bacolod side can still afford to lose to Global on Sunday and still win the title.
Stallion needs maximum points
Stallion doesn’t have the same luxury as coach Ernie Nierras’ side needs maximum points to stay in the title hunt.

The Sparks also have 22 points but have played one more game compared to Ceres. They all but kissed their title hopes goodbye after drawing with Kaya, 3-3, two weeks ago.

But the race for second place still has an incentive especially if the same team wins the league and the UFL Cup.

In this case, the No. 2 team in the league will claim a playoff berth in the AFC Cup. The Cup champions, however, will have the first crack on that playoff berth.

Kaya’s confidence is soaring after a spectacular comeback against Loyola. But Pachanga will also go into the match equally confident after holding Global to a 1-1 draw last week.
