Serena Williams became the oldest woman to win a Grand Slam title on Saturday and then hailed Roger Federer as an inspiration as the Swiss star stands poised to become the oldest man to win Wimbledon.

At 33 years and 289 days old, Williams surpassed Martina Navratilova who was 33 years and 263 days when she won the last of her record nine Wimbledons in 1990.

On Sunday, fellow 33-year-old Federer, already the oldest man in 41 years to reach the All England Club final, takes on world number one and defending champion Novak Djokovic for the men’s title.

Williams said she wasn’t going to pick a winner of Sunday’s championship match.

“You know, he’s playing Novak. He’s strong No. 1. He’s defending champ. You know, it’s tough to say,” she added.

“But I think it’s going to be an unbelievable match. I really look forward to watching it.
