The Philippine chef de mission to the Rio Olympics wants to form a council of former CDMs who will help national sports associations come up with as many qualifiers as possible to the 2016 Games.
Joey Romasanta, also the first vice president of the Philippine Olympic Committee, said yesterday that there’s no need to put up a Task Force that will screen the members to the PH delegation because in the Olympics, “it’s either you’re qualified or not.”
So far, only Eric Cray has a sure ticket to the Rio Games after making the qualifying time in the men’s 400-meter hurdles by clocking 49.12 seconds during a meet before the Southeast Asian Games last month.
In the council are Incheon Asian Games CDM and PSC chair Richie Garcia, Singapore SEA Games’ Julian Camacho, Burma SEA Games Jeff Tamayo, Youth Olympic Games’ Jonne Go, Asian Youth Games’ Tac Padilla and Asian Beach Games’ Richard Gomez.
