Bulldogs open Spikers’ Turf drive vs Cards
National University tries to find a new leader when the Bulldogs get going in the inaugural Collegiate Conference of the Spikers’ Turf Monday at Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.
The Bulldogs, who lost star spiker Peter Torres to graduation, take on Mapua in Group A in the first game of a triple-header at 1 p.m.
University of the Philippines and Arellano clash in Group B action at 3 p.m., while Far Eastern University and National College of Business and Arts square off in the other Group A match at 5 p.m.
Article continues after this advertisementNU coach Dante Alinsunurin said the Bulldogs need to work harder to fill the void left by the power-hitting Torres, who led them to two straight UAAP men’s title runs from 2013.
Rounding out the Group A teams are reigning NCAA champion Emilio Aguinaldo College and University of the East.
UAAP king Ateneo and La Salle, the rivals set to clash on Wednesday, are bunched in Group B along with St. Benilde and De La Salle-Dasmariñas. Games will be aired on a delayed basis on PTV 4.
