Mayweather back in training for ‘last fight’ in September
After his monumental bout with Manny Pacquiao in May, Floyd Mayweather Jr. has gone back to training.
In a post on his Instagram account @floydmayweather, he said, “Training camp has started. Go get my @shots app for exclusive 10-second videos leading up to my fight on September 12.”
Four days prior, Mayweather announced in another Instagram post his intention to return to the ring.
He said, “To my fans, your loyalty and support has given me the best 20 years I could ask for while at the top, I plan to go out on top. See you back in the ring September 12th!”
Mayweather has already floated the names of Andre Berto and Karim Mayfield as possible opponents in his final fight.
Fighter Amir Khan has been trying to get the attention of the undefeated world champ.
The September fight would probably be the final match in Mayweather’s belt, and will also coincide with the last of his six-fight contract with Showtime.
If he wins, Mayweather will tie boxing legend Rocky Marciano among the greats, going undefeated in 49 fights.
