CERES-LA SALLE, the only unbeaten side in the United Football League this season, tries to inch closer to a first UFL League crown when it battles an in-form Green Archers side Wednesday night at Rizal Memorial Stadium.

The Bacolod side, which has 31 points from 12 games, only needs to win three of its last five matches to rule the first division in its maiden stint in the top flight.

But Ceres is expected to have its hands full in the 7:45 p.m. duel with a Green Archers squad gunning for a fifth straight victory.

Robert Lopez Mendy and new signee Manu Chaffort have provided firepower for Green Archers, combining for 10 goals in the last four games.

But Ceres will also go into the match hungry for maximum points after battling Global to a 2-2 draw last Sunday.

“The good thing about the draw is the fact that it keeps the team hungry and motivated to win (the next game against Archers),” said Ceres coach Ali Go.

Defending champion Global seeks to salvage what’s left of what has been a roller-coaster season as it tangles with cellar-dweller Team Socceroo in the 5:15 p.m. kickoff.

With 24 points from 12 games, Global is nursing slim hopes of retaining the crown.
