ALABANG and Orchard swept their respective opponents to assume the lead after the second round of matches in the Federation Golf League held in various courses recently.
The Albang bets thumped their hosts at Eagle Ridge, 4-2, then eked out a 3.5-2.5 victory at home in the return match for 9 points out of a possible 12 in Division 1.
Defending co-champion Wack Wack failed to match Alabang’s feat when it won at home 3.5-2.5 but managed only a 3-3 draw against Forest Hills.
With the win and the draw, Alabang slid to second spot at 7 points while Forest pooled 4. Eagle Ridge dropped to fourth with 3 points.
In Division 2, Orchard bamboozled Mimosa to surge atop the standings with a home-and-away mastery.
Orchard took a 4.5-1.5 decision at home and was as convincing in a 4-2 win on the road at Mimosa to boost its points total to 9 like Alabang.
Valley, last year’s co-champions with Wack Wack, was forced to a draw by Riviera on the road after posting a crunching 5-1 win at home.
Valley is now at 7 points, Riviera at 4 and Mimosa at the cellar with 3.
The third-round matches feature Mimosa against Valley and Orchard versus Riviera in Division 2 while Eagle Ridge takes on Wack Wack and Alabang duels Forest Hills in Division 1.
