UP destroys PUP in straight sets, reaches .500 mark

In the battle of maroons, the bigger and bolder shade got it better.

As University of the Philippines looked to get its first win in Shakey’s V-League, it got an opportunity to test Polytechnic University of the Philippines.

And the Lady Maroons did grab it, walloping the Lady Radicals 25-15, 25-14, 25-13, in the group stages on Saturday at San Juan Arena.

It was a virtual no-contest as the Lady Maroons trampled their way to a 1-1 record in Group A, while the Lady Radicals fell in another humiliating loss to a 0-2 record.

Maria Molde led UP with 15 points while Justine Dorog added 10.

For the first time in the tournament, PUP recorded its first excellent sets as the Lady Radicals finished with six.

Jane Romo led the Lady Radicals with nine points.
