San Beda’s bid for a sixth straight NCAA title suffered a blow after fifth year point guard Baser Amer dislocated his shoulder that could sideline him for three months.

Amer, a former Finals MVP, who has won titles with the Red Lions since joining the team in 2010, reinjured his shoulder after  colliding with Letran guard Mark Cruz in the second quarter of the 80-93 loss to the Knights last Thursday.

Amer could be out up until the playoffs if the Lions get to the stage. He initially injured his shoulder while playing for Hapee in the PBA D League finals.

Meanwhile, San Beda’s Arthur dela Cruz and Perpetual Help duo Bright Akhuetie and reigning MVP Earl Scottie Thompson lead the race for the top individual award two weeks into the season.

Dela Cruz currently leads the MVP derby with a player average value (PAV) of 68.33 with Akhuetie and Thompson  in second and third with 68.25 and 65.50, respectively.
