No new Hotshots head coach yet

The coaching changes in two of the PBA’s most popular teams are not yet cast in stone, after all.

While Tim Cone is headed to Barangay Ginebra, the appointment of Jason Webb as his replacement at Star, according to an Inquirer source, is still up in the air with Richard del Rosario cropping up as a candidate at the last minute.

The source, who spoke on condition that he not be identified because he is not authorized to do so, Tuesday said that San Miguel Corp. management is now seriously considering Del Rosario for the job because of his immense knowledge of Star’s star-studded lineup.

Del Rosario, who has been one of the team’s assistant coaches since the time of Jorge Gallent in 2010, is the longest-sitting deputy on the Star bench and has had head coaching experience in the NCAA with the St. Benilde Blazers.

Webb, on the other hand, came in only in the last season and can be considered an upstart compared to all the others in the roster of assistants in the San Miguel conglomerate.

Cone is still in the United States. San Miguel management is expected to make the announcement of the changes any day now. CFC
