Go four off US Girls golf lead after a 70

Lois Kaye Go fired two birdies in the last six holes at the front to salvage an even par 70 at the start of the US Girls’ Junior 36-hole classification round at Tulsa Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Monday(Tuesday in Manila).

Annika Cedo carded a 71 and Pauline del Rosario and Mikhaela Fortuna turned in a pair of 73s. Go, who wound up tied for 33rd in last week’s Junior World in San Diego, battled back from a double-bogey 6 on the 18th with birdies on Nos. 4 and 6 as she joined six others at 11th place—four shots behind a hot-starting Sophie Liu of Canada.

Liu rode on a fiery five-birdie binge from No. 10 to shoot a 66, one stroke ahead of Thai Jaravee Boonchant, Megan Khang of the US and Chinese Muni He, who all shot 67s at the short but challenging par-70 layout.

Del Rosario, who shared 25th place in San Diego, failed to get going despite an early tee start, fumbling with three bogeys in a birdie-less round of 73.

ICTSI-The Country Club teammate Fortuna managed the same score only after birdies in her last two holes for joint 41st. The top 64 players after the two-day qualifier will advance to the match play phase.
