ABS-CBN, new cage league sign TV coverage deal

The Country-Wide Basketball League (CWBL) got a big boost when it forged an exclusive coverage agreement with ABS-CBN Sports and Action recently.

Under the agreement , ABS-CBN will air the league’s games nationwide with an option for international broadcasting.

For its part, ABS-CBN was granted exclusive marketing rights.

The coverage agreement was signed by league chair Reynaldo D. Gamboa and Antonio S. Ventosa, ABS-CBN head, Narrowcast & Access, and Dino Jacinto M. Lauren, head of Integrated Sports.

Gamboa said both the league and ABS-CBN are committed to bring the games closer to local basketball fans and at the same time provide nationwide television exposure to the teams.

ABS-CBN Sports+Action is gearing up for the promotion of the league’s launch of the regular conferences in February next year. Promotional activities will feature the teams, players and the localities being represented.

The CWBL board of trustees also announced the appointment of vice chair Pablo de Borja, as league commissioner and Joe Lipa, as VP-GM for basketball operations. Roy Luarca
