University of the Philippines took off from the .500 plateau after taking down University of Batangas, 24-26, 25-19, 25-19, 25-20 in the Shakey’s V-League Collegiate Conference Sunday at San Juan Arena.
Justine Dorog’s open hit found the spot to lift the Lady Maroons to 2-1 in Group A of the preseason tournament while the Lady Brahmans stayed winless at 0-3.
UP head coach Gerry Yee said, despite the win, his team still lacked the maturity and is still prone to errors.
“We lacked the maturity compared to our opponents,” Yee said. “University of Batangas had a great defense we only managed to fight that with our higher jumps.”
“The attention span of the players is still very short. They could not focus even until the end of the game.”
Maria Molde had 21 points to lead the Lady Fighting Maroons while Dorog had 18.
Diana Carlos pitched in 17 points for UP.
UB’s triumvirate of Krissa Madalogdog, Kimberly Jamilla, and Cyren Montecer each had 11 points to lead the Lady Brahmans. CFC
