Host University of the Philippines seeks to start the season on a winning note as it clashes with University of the East on opening day of the UAAP Season 78 men’s basketball tournament on September 5 at Smart Araneta Coliseum.
In a report by ABS-CBN Sports, the game between UP and UE is set at 2 p.m., immediately following the opening ceremonies presented by the Diliman crew at 1 p.m.

University of Santo Tomas and Adamson tangle in the nightcap at 4 p.m.
Last year’s Final Four teams will also see action in the opening weekend as defending champions National University faces the retooled De La Salle at 2 p.m. at Mall of Asia Arena on September 4, before Ateneo faces last season’s runner-up Far Eastern University in the second game. CFC
