A mix of mainstays, old reliables, and new faces attended the lowkey national team training Wednesday night, days ahead of the formal announcement of the Gilas Pilipinas pool.
Jayson Castro, Ranidel de Ocampo, and Gary David were all at hand as Tab Baldwin conducted a laidback practice before the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) on Monday names the final pool from which the team competing in the 2015 Fiba Asia Championship in Changsha, China on September will come from.
According to PBA.ph, also joining the workouts were former national team mainstays Asi Taulava, Sonny Thoss, and Dondon Hontiveros, together with new faces like Terrence Romeo, JC Intal, Aldrech Ramos, Matt Ganuelas-Rosser, and Gilas cadet Troy Rosario.
Unfortunately, absent were the likes of June Mar Fajardo, Paul Lee, Jeff Chan, Marc Pingris, and LA Tenorio, who could all miss the Asian qualifiers.
With less than 2 months to go, it is still unclear whether some players who steered the country to a Fiba World stint last year would be able still join the pool.
On a lighter note, naturalized player Andray Blatche is expected to arrive to the country on Saturday to join the training. CFC
