A legend has arrived in España.
Alvin Patrimonio, a four-time PBA MVP, has joined the coaching staff of University of Santo Tomas as the Tigers’ big man mentor for the upcoming UAAP season 78.
“I can see that they really want to improve,” Patrimonio told UST’s official student publication, the Varsitarian.
Patrimonio, arguably the greatest power forward in PBA history, replaces Estong Ballesteros as big man coach after the Growling Tigers alum resigned from his post in December 2014 just after the basketball tournament of the UAAP.
The Captain, however, clarified to the Varsitarian his commitment to UST would not take away his focus on his in the Purefoods Star Hotshots staff.
Head coach Bong De La Cruz said the appointment is still not an “official one” but assured the student-run paper Patrimonio is “part of the team.”
Dela Cruz added it was his teammates in UST High School Jon Jon Villanueva and Kenneth Causon who persuaded one of PBA’s 40 Greatest to join UST. CFC
