Superliga beach volley action heats up

CIGNAL B, Foton Tornadoes and Amy’s stake their spotless slates today as they chase slots in the finals of the PLDT Home Ultera Philippine Superliga Beach Volleyball Challenge Cup 2015 powered by Smart Live More at SM By the Bay in SM Mall of Asia.

Cignal B’s April Ross Hingpit and Wensh Tiu face the gritty Meralco pair of Jem Gutierrez and Jusabella Brillo at 2:30 p.m. in one of the featured matches to be shown on TV5.

Fiola Ceballos and Patty Orendain of Foton Tornadoes clash with the Philips Gold tandem of Rossan Fajardo and Aileen Abuel at 4 p.m., while Samantha Dawson and Marleen Cortel of Amy’s collide with Gilligan’s Danika Gendrauli and Jane Diaz at 4:40 p.m.

The Foton Hurricanes of Bea Tan and Pau Soriano tangles with certified fan favorites Gretchen Ho and Charo Soriano of Petron XCS at 3:20 p.m.

The winners return to action later in the day to dispute slots in the finals, slated next Saturday.

In men’s action, Champion Infinity B battles Cignal A at 10 a.m., while SM By the Bay tangles with Centerstage at 10:50 a.m. in the semifinals.

Meralco dropped a match in the eliminations, but its style of play is expected to baffle Cignal B, one of the crowd favorites.
