La Salle-Dasma snaps three-game skid, tames San Sebastian
De La Salle University-Dasmariñas stopped its three-game losing streak in the Shakey’s V-League Collegiate Conference on Saturday by sweeping the San Sebastian Lady Stags 27-25, 26-24, 25-20, at San Juan Arena.
Cherry Rose Nunag found the spot in the middle with a hard attack that sealed the Lady Patriots’ first win for a 1-3 record in Group B.
Lady Patriots head coach Raymond Ramirez said snapping a losing streak took heart and kept their quarterfinals hope alive.
“The fight is in the heart,” said Ramirez, who had one more game to make good if he wanted his team to get to the playoffs. “Against College of St. Benilde, I think we can do it.”
La Salle-Dasma had to endure two grueling sets against the perennial NCAA powers before taking a more comfortable one in the third.
Attack was the name of the game for the Lady Patriots as they unloaded 40 spikes compared to San Sebastian’s 26.
Iumi Yongco led the Lady Patriots with 13 points while Nunag and Desiree Dadang had 11 and 10 points respectively.
Jolina Labiano led the 1-3 Lady Stags with 14.
