St. Benilde’s Travis Jonson may undergo foot surgery

St. Benilde got a big blow after Travis Jonson injured his foot during practice and may need surgery.

Jonson played only three minutes in St. Benilde’s 88-66 rout of San Sebastian but didn’t make an impact for the Blazers.

St. Benilde head coach Gabby Velasco said may the playmaker wanted to help his team.

“(Jonson) is playing injured and he’s just trying to contribute to our team,” Velasco said.

“He’s really hurting and if he can’t stand, he might undergo a surgery.”

It’s a tough blow for the the Blazers who will miss their leader for the next few games as the operation may sideline Jonson for at least a week.

“My other guards are not as scorer as Jonson, but the biggest thing that we miss from him is his leadership on the court,” Velasco said.

Fortunately for St. Benilde, Jonathan Grey has stepped up in lieu of Jonson and is doing an admirable job in leading the squad.

“Grey is an impact player. He really make things happen. He has so much energy, and we’re able to use it in this game.”
