Eight-division boxing world champion and Mahindra playing-coach Manny Pacquiao is now in Tokyo, Japan to help the Samahang Basketball ng Pilipinas delegation convince the 23-man FIBA Central Board that the country is the best place to stage the 2019 Fiba Basketball World Cup.

And he brought a friend with him.

In an Instagram post, Pacquiao snapped a picture of him and Hollywood actor Lou Diamond Phillips having a dinner on Wednesday night.

Pacquiao and Philips are just two of the representatives who will be part of the Philippines’ presentation to the FIBA Central Board in an attempt to outshine China for the coveted hosting rights.

The formal hosting bid presentations will be on Friday, where Filipino fans are also urged to show their support in social media by tweeting #PUSO2019 at around 2:30 to 3 p.m.

A closed-door question-and-answer session will follow the presentation. The awarding of the rights will be announced later in the day. CFC
