Waving the white flag?
Chinese basketball legend Yao Ming approached Jimmy Alapag and Chot Reyes during a lull in the 2019 FIBA World Cup host awarding ceremonies and told the Philippine delegation that the country’s presentation is better than China’s.
In a tweet sent by Reyes in his account @coachot, he wrote, “So Yao Ming joins us, saying ‘your presentation was much better than ours.’ Seriously.”
Yao and Alapag both lobbied for each country’s hosting bid in the presentations on Friday.
The host of the 2019 FIBA World Cup will be announced today.
