Yao Ming: Philippines pushed us to the limit

A giant among men has spoken, and it is all pure class.

Chinese basketball icon Yao Ming was ecstatic for his country as the Asian giants won the hosting rights to the 2019 Fiba Basketball World Cup but it was the Filipinos who tugged at his heartstrings.

“It’s such an exciting moment to bring the 2019 Fiba World Cup to China and I’m sure that millions of fans are sharing this joy with us,” Yao told Fiba.

Then Yao showed why he’s a class act.

“We have to pay tribute to the Philippine delegation. They were great opponents. Only opponents like them could really push us to our limits to test how capable we are,” he said.

“Even if we were opponents on this occasion, we still have a friendship with them.”
