With Jimmy Alapag coming out of retirement, the return of the Gilas captain is just the much needed boost for Meralco as it hopes to address its weaknesses in the off-season.
And for coach Norman Black, he’s happy to be reunited with his former player back in Talk ‘N Text.
“He will be a big plus for us,” he said.
Black was elated that a simple idea a month ago has finally become a reality.
“Jimmy talked to me about a month ago and expressed his desire to want to play again. I asked him if he would be interested in joining Meralco, and he said yes. I took it to the management, and the management worked on it,” he said.
And the Grand Slam coach is happy that weeks before the Draft, the Bolts have finally addressed their point guard needs.
“We think Jimmy brings a lot of talent to the team, experience and leadership. We also really need to improve at the point guard position, so that would be something he could help us with,” said Black. “We’re really looking forward to him joining us.”
