Ateneo whipped Technological Institute of the Philippines, 25-16 25-14 25-13, to remain the only undefeated team in the Shakey’s V-League Season 12 Collegiate Conference on Saturday night at Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

Alyssa Valdez easily came away with 16 points to lead the Lady Eagles, who swept the elimination round and topped Group B with a 5-0 record.

“We’re really happy that we’re able to achieve that 5-0 record in the eliminations but then again, we had to go through many challenges,” said Valdez.

“From our very first game up to this one we had to deal with injuries, we were committing a lot of errors and we still have some things to improve on,” she said.

But those injuries hardly mattered and the carelessness the star spiker pointed out as part of the adversities Ateneo had to hurdle was unseen with the way the Lady Eagles played right from the opening serve.

The Lady Engineers showed fight in them but were just overmatched in terms of experience and talent.

Hezzymei Acuña paced TIP, which wrapped up its preliminary round campaign with four straight losses and a 1-4 slate, with measly six points.

“It’s been a hard [eliminations] for us but the next round will definitely be harder because the other teams are preparing as well,” said Valdez.
