Danika Gendrauli and Jane Diaz of Gilligan’s came back from a first-set loss to outlast the Foton Tornadoes’ Fiola Ceballos and Patty Orendain, 19-21, 21-14, 15-11, yesterday and capture the first ever women’s title of the PLDT Home Ultera Philippine Superliga Beach Volleyball Challenge Cup 2015 powered by Smart Live More.

Gendrauli scored six points in the decisive third set, including the game-clincher that sealed the match at Sands By the Bay in SM Mall of Asia.

In the men’s division, SM By the Bay A downed Champion Infinity B, 21-17, 23-21, to claim the crown.

With the win, Gendrauli and Diaz will get a recommendation to play for the national team, according to PSL president Ramon “Tats” Suzara.

“I think with these players we can put up a very strong national team,” said Suzara. “I will recommend them to the Larong Volleyball sa Pilipinas to form the Philippine team to international beach volleyball competitions.”
