University of Santo Tomas finished its elimination round campaign in the Shakey’s V-League with a four-game win streak, preying on the hapless San Sebastian College-Recoletos, 25-22, 25-15, 25-17, Sunday at San Juan Arena.
Alexa Rafael rose to the occasion for the Tigresses, blocking Dangie Encarnacion to seal UST’s 4-1 win-loss record in the eliminations.
Tigresses head coach Kung Fu Reyes said he doesn’t see any flaws in their game, they just have to polish some details in their defense.
“We just have to polish our blocking, our problem is always the first ball of the,” Reyes said. “We have improved our service, the only problem I see is the on-court communication.”
“They don’t talk much out there. When they talk, everything will follow.”
Rafael also gave the Tigresses their match point with a well-placed attack through the Lady Stags’ block.
Pam Lastimosa led UST with 14 points, 13 of which came from spikes, while EJ Laure added 12.
Chloe Cortez, who replaced the injured Carmela Tunay, helped in 10 points for the Tigresses who is behind undefeated Ateneo in the Group B standings.
Jolina Labiano led the 1-4 Lady Stags with 11 points.
