MAASIN CITY – A hero’s welcome awaits Jason Pagara and his brother Prince Albert for their victory in Pinoy Pride 32:  Duel in Dubai 2 at the Dubai World Trade Center on August 7.

The Pagara brothers were expected to come home before the fiesta on Aug. 15 in honor of the city’s patron Immaculate Concepcion.

“It’s but fitting that they be accorded a hero’s welcome and a motorcade around the city,” said  Maasin City Mayor Maloney Samaco.

“We are proud, very proud of them particularly because they owned up that they are from Maasin,” he added.

The boxers were born in Lib-og village this city.

Albert, the younger Pagara started out as an amateur boxer under tutelage of Maasin Sports Council headed then by Samaco.

During the Duel in Dubai 2, Albert pulled off a first round knockout victory over Mexican Jesus Rios to keep his International Boxing Federation junior featherweight title in Dubai earlySaturday (Manila time).

His brother, Jason, won by unanimous decision over Mexican Ramiro Alcaraz, 77-73, 76-74, 78-72.

The 10-round junior welterweight encounter was stopped in the eighth round upon the advice of ring physician Dr. Nasser Cruz following another head butt that bloodied Jason’s left eye.
