Former UFC light heavyweight contender Glover Teixeira submitted Ovince Saint Preux via rear-naked choke in the third round at UFC Fight Night Sunday (Manila time) in Nashville, Tennessee.

Saint Preux, the hometown hero fighting out of Knoxville, got into deep trouble after Teixeira had a firm grip of his neck. Saint Preux refused to tap out and lost consciousness in the process at the 3:10 mark.

“I’m back, man,” Teixeira said after his impressive win as posted on Yahoo Sports’ Cagewriter. “My last performance was bad. I just told myself, if I keep fighting like this, I’ll stop.”

The 32-year-old Saint Preux, who came into the fight ranked No.6 among light heavyweights, later apologized to his fans for coming up short against Teixeira.

“I’m sorry I didn’t come out with win,” Saint Preux said. “I just wanted to put a show for y’all. Me, I’m not the type of person to lay down but I think I did a pretty good job. Even though he had it sunk in deep, I told myself he was going to have to put me away.”

“Give Glover a hand, he did a good job,” he commended. “It was really good fighting in Nashville.” CFC
