Phoenix Am Open Friday

CEBU—Final preparations are under way for the Phoenix Premium 98 Amateur Open presented by Mechatrends which comes off the wraps this Friday (not Wednesday, as earlier reported) at Cebu Country Club course here.

This is the first time the organizing Phoenix Petroleum Philippines, through its foundation, is taking up a share of the cudgels for golf, and the company sees the tournament as a perfect venue to discover new talent and develop them into future champions.

Phoenix vice president for external affairs Raymond Zorilla said the series will head next to Manila Southwoods on Sept. 18 and then to Beverly Place on Oct. 16. Next year, the oil firm will increase the number of events to six.
