Samantha Martirez and Bernice Olivarez-Ilas regained their top form and ruled their respective divisions in the Skylinks Summer Golf Championship at Skylinks Golf Club in California last Monday.
Martirez, who finished fourth in last week’s Lakewood Summer Championship, hit two birdies against a double bogey to match par 72 then nipped Amy Matsuoka in the countback to snare the premier 14-18 title.
The 16-year-old Martirez’s second international victory is expected to further boost her confidence as ICTSI-The Country Club team sets out for a number of events.
Teammate Sofia Chabon settled for third with a 73 while Abby Arevalo ended up tied for fourth with a 74.
Olivarez-Ilas’ 75 proved enough to net her the 12-13 crown in the 18-hole event.
Over in Portland, Princess Superal failed to rebound from an opening 75 with a 78 and missed the cut by five.
