2 FCVBA teams gain semis

KUCHING, Malaysia—The two teams of the Filipino-Chinese Veterans Basketball Association (FCVBA) easily advanced to the semifinals of their divisions in the 24th Asean Seniors Basketball Tournament Wednesday here.

The 50-years squad was made it to the Final Four after a 67-49 rout of Indonesia’s Pontiana in Group B action where shooter Achit Kaw fired 28 points at MBKS Stadium.

The win came after a scary 62-56 victory over fellow title contender Kuala Lumpur in the opener last Tuesday.

The 40-years squad was also rampant, scoring an 83-66 win over Kuala Lumpur for its second straight victory in Group B.

Both teams are already assured of semifinal berths even if they drop their last game in their respective group eliminations.

Also gunning for a semifinal berth and a sweep of its group elimination is the 60-years team of Rain or Shine co-team owner Terry Que and Ironcon Builders’ Jimi Lim.
